This could be the first Xiaomi smartwatch to launch globally
- Xiaomi could launch a new smartwatch globally.
- It could be called the Mi Watch Revolve.
- The smartwatch seems like a rebranded version of the Mi Watch Color.
Xiaomi’s Mi Band 5 just made its China debut and is set to launch globally soon. Now, it appears the company is also planning to release a smartwatch for global markets. No, it’s not the Apple Watch-lookalike Mi Watch that runs Google’s Wear OS, but a cheaper one with a rounded display.
According to a report by XDA Developers, Xiaomi could rename the Mi Watch Color for international markets and call it the Mi Watch Revolve. The publication found a new listing for the Mi Watch Revolve in the latest version of the Mi Watch app. An online search for the name uncovered an unboxing video of the smartwatch on YouTube. As per the YouTuber, the watch was purchased from AliExpress for around €90 (~$101).
Xiaomi launched the Mi Watch Color in China for just a little over that price at 799 yuan (~$112). However, as per its Chinese product page, its price has now dropped to 599 yuan (~$84).
Xiaomi Mi Watch Revolve design and specs
The Mi Watch Revolve listing on the Mi Watch app shows a device with a circular display with two buttons. This adds more fuel to the fact that it’s the Mi Watch Color with a different name. The fitness watch looks a lot like the Amazfit GTR and that’s not surprising since Huami, the company that owns the Amazfit brand, is closely affiliated with Xiaomi (designing the Mi Band, for instance).
Since the Amazfit GTR has the same design, we can presume that one of the two buttons sticking out of the circular watch dial is a power button and the other is a function button to control various watch features.
In terms of specs, the rebranded smartwatch once again borrows everything from the Amazfit GTR. It features a 1.39-inch AMOLED display, a 420mAh battery, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, and 5ATM water resistance.
Sensors on the so-called Mi Watch Revolve include the basics such as a heart rate sensor, gyroscope, accelerometer, geomagnetic sensor, ambient light sensor, and more.
The smartwatch comes with a pogo pin charging base and Xiaomi claims that it can provide 14 days of battery life. The watch also comes with a bunch of color straps in China and you can probably expect the same if and when it launches globally.
