The best Fitbit smartwatches you can buy
Google-owned Fitbit is an established fitness wearables maker, and its smartwatch game is equally impressive. From its humble and questionable first effort with the Fitbit Blaze, the company’s smartwatches have grown into capable wrist companions. If you’re not an iPhone and Apple Watch user, Fitbit makes a solid case for offering some of the best smartwatches available.
But now that Fitbit’s smartwatch offerings are plentiful choosing one that’s the best fit for you is a tough task. Below, we take a look at some of the best Fitbit smartwatches you can buy.

Buying the right Fitbit smartwatch for your needs
Fitbit smartwatches offer a good balance between health and fitness tracking and general smartwatch features. Like the Versa 3 and Sense, its premium offerings pack microphones for commanding voice assistants or sending speech-to-text replies to messages. Fitbit smartwatches also support a growing list of apps, but this remains one of the platform’s biggest pain points. If app functionality is of utmost importance for you, you’ll be better off with a Wear OS smartwatch or another Fitbit alternative.
While more recent Fitbit smartwatches look similar, they each excel in different ways. Thankfully, the products are priced in a stepped manner, so you’ll have little trouble finding a Fitbit smartwatch to match your budget.

The best Fitbit smartwatches
- The Fitbit Versa 3 is the best Fitbit smartwatch you can buy. It’s a cheaper Fitbit Sense minus a few special sensors. In terms of value, you can’t really get a better Fitbit smartwatch.
- The Fitbit Sense is the best Fitbit smartwatch for data lovers. If you want to maximize your smartwatch’s health and fitness data output, the Sense is your device. It tracks three additional parameters on top of what the Versa 3 offers.
- The Fitbit Versa 2 is the best cheap Fitbit smartwatch. It’s getting long in the tooth, but it remains a capable and affordable Fitbit smartwatch.
Fitbit Versa 3: The best Fitbit smartwatch
The Fitbit Sense may be the flagship Fitbit watch, but the Versa 3 is the better value buy. It sports a 1.58-inch AMOLED display, a built-in speaker and microphone which can be used during calls, and built-in GPS for runners. The Versa 3 also features Fitbit’s second-generation Pure Pulse heart rate tracking tech and an SpO2 sensor.
So why is the Versa 3 the best Fitbit smartwatch and not the Sense? For one, it trades a lower list price for three sensors. Beyond these, the Versa 3 is nearly identical to the Sense. Realistically, the average user could live without these three sensors, and the Versa 3’s health tracking performance doesn’t suffer without them, either. That’s largely why we consider the Versa 3 to be the superior value offering in the Fitbit family. By extension, it’s also one of the best smartwatches for Android around right now.
Pros
- Decent battery life
- Pretty accurate health tracking
- Built-in GPS
Cons
- Very small app library
- Onboard music limited to two services
- Capacitive button isn’t ideal

Fitbit Sense: The best Fitbit smartwatch for data lovers
The Fitbit Sense is the company’s flagship smartwatch, offering everything the Versa 3 has and a little more. It packs a large AMOLED display, comfortable fit, and excellent build quality but trumps the Versa 3 with its sensor offerings. In addition to the usual metrics, the Sense also tracks body temperature, stress levels via its electrodermal activity (EDA) monitor, and heart health with its electrocardiogram (ECG). These three sensors provide more health data and context for those who need them. But not everyone does.
We don’t quite rate the Sense as highly as the Versa 3 primarily because of its price. It’s regularly pricier than the Versa 3, and unless you absolutely require its additional health sensors, it doesn’t offer anything above the Versa 3. You also might be better off waiting for Fitbit’s EDA and ECG technology to mature. We found both to be hit and miss in our review. That said, if you can snag the Fitbit Sense on special, it may ultimately be a better buy.
Pros
- High-end, premium design
- Improved quick-release straps
- (Mostly) accurate GPS and heart rate sensors
Cons
- Bad inductive button
- EDA and ECG sensors needs refining
- Fitbit OS still needs work

Fitbit Versa 2: The best cheap Fitbit smartwatch
The Fitbit Versa 2 may lack the sleeker design and improved sensor array of its newer siblings, but it’s still a capable smartwatch. Its age hasn’t detracted from its appeal, and if anything, it’s now an even better deal than it was at launch. You still get advanced sleep tracking, SpO2 monitoring, heart rate tracking, and more with the Versa 2. It also packs a microphone for vocal quick replies to messages and commanding Amazon Alexa if you’re so inclined.
It does have its drawbacks, though. For runners, the Versa 2 lacks built-in GPS. It also doesn’t have the nifty quick-change strap features of the Sense.
Despite these shortcomings, the Versa 2 remains a capable smartwatch for those who don’t need all the pricey bells and whistles. This is especially true considering it can be had for less than the Fitbit Ionic.
- $148.95 at Amazon Save $51 .00
- $149.95 at Fitbit Save $50 .00
- $149.95 at Target Save $50 .00
Pros
- Nice OLED display
- Accurate fitness and health tracking
- Sleep tracking/Sleep Score are useful
Cons
- Fitbit OS still needs plenty of work
- No built-in GPS
- Quick release straps are a pain

Honorable mentions
That’s it for our list of the best Fitbit smartwatches you can buy, but it’s only a fraction of what’s out there. We also want to give an honorable mention to the following products:
- Fitbit Versa Lite: Fitbit’s cheapest smartwatch strips out a few features for a lower price. It’s a good entry option into the Fitbit smartwatch ecosystem, but it’s pretty tough to find one on sale nowadays.
- Fitbit Charge 4: While not necessarily a smartwatch, the Charge 4 may be Fitbit’s best value device overall. The slim fitness tracker packs rudimentary smartwatch features, but it’s highly regarded for its solid fitness tracking smarts and excellent value.
- Fitbit Inspire 2: Arguably the best beginner Fitbit product, the Inspire 2 also lumps in a year-long trial to Fitbit Premium for new users, which is the real reason you should grab one.
- Fitbit Ace 3: This is the only real choice in the Fitbit range for kids. It features several parental security features, a rugged body, and fitness tracking suited for children.
